Divers enjoy the gentle sloping reef tops inhabited by beautiful butterfly and angelfish. The broad, white, sandy beaches make it a haven for green turtles to come and lay their eggs. There are steep walls with gorgonian fans, reef sharks, dogtooth tuna, and barracuda, for the more advanced divers. Cocos Island also has Maori Wrasse and Spinner Dolphins. Pulu Keeling National Park has almost 100 species of reef building corals and over 600 species of molluscs. There is also approximately 528 species of fish.
