Kungkungan Bay Dive Resort is located on an old coconut plantation in the heart of the Lembeh Strait. The resort has its private bay offering calm waters all year round. The house reefs showcase the wonders of Lembeh Strait since 1994.

Warmly known as KBR, the resort features various rooms where 16 out of 17 rooms are Waterfront. The houses are made from the local materials and share the Minahasa culture. Kungkungan Bay Dive Resort rooms are designed with air conditioners and suite bathrooms. Some of the houses share verandas and are designed to meet the international standard of convenience, safety, and privacy.

Facilities at KBR include swim up bar, lounge, hot showers, camera rinse tank, library, internet access, and a social hub. The restaurants offer Asian cuisine, and visitors can also request for western alternatives. Restaurant services are available 24 hours every-day. If booked, the tour instructors can arrange local trips to cultural places, wildlife tours, and market visits. Kungkungan Bay Dive Resort is an 80-minute drive from Manado Airport.

Kungkungan Bay Dive Resort diving services include Full Service PADI dive center with a purpose-built camera room. KBR offers daily boat dives and courses for individuals looking to advance their knowledge and receive certification. The experts are thoroughly trained, experienced in providing outstanding services. Furthermore, the resort attracts professional and photographer enthusiasts throughout the year.

Further KBR facilities include equipment rental services, instructions, cameras, and nitrox ‘membrane system’. The resort also offers the Waterfront Infinity pool and the Tepi Laut (Seaside) Day Spa. The dive centers are full marine life. You will find house reef, mimic octopus, frogfish, cowfish are some example of marine life to distract your camera. Divers may encounter seahorses, dragonettes, shrimp, octopus, scorpion fish, and other weird and wonderful creatures of the ocean.

The number of divers at any dive site is 15, giving the visitor numerous opportunities to explore and refine their photographic skills. A full range of equipment is available for hire, including nitrox, cameras, and underwater cameras.

General Information

The Resort was specifically designed to achieve a pleasing aesthetic effect with minimum impact on the environment. By using local materials and traditional architecture and adding western style bathrooms and amenities the resort reflects the local Minahasan culture, while providing international standards of comfort, convenience, safety, and privacy.

Kungkungan Bay SCUBA Resort is proud to offer North Sulawesi’s only truly exclusive dive site. Kungkungan Bay (our House Reef) can only be dived by our in-house guests. No fishing has been allowed in Kungkungan Bay since the resort opened, way back in 1994, making this without doubt the fishiest dive site anywhere in the Strait – and it’s your alone to enjoy, when you stay at KBR.
